If you’re anything like the rest of us, then you often meet yourself coming and going and find that there are never enough hours in the day to accomplish all of the things on your to-do list. That time that you have set aside for catching up on emails and networking always seems to get taken up with another task instead. And, despite your best efforts, your resume will never be kept current if you never get around to actually working on it.
As is with everything at the start of a new year, we feel fresh and ready to set new goals for ourselves. We will save more rather than spend more. We will work harder and then play harder. We will be more attentive and more efficient. So, how can you add to that list of new goals by aiming to better your job search despite your busy calendar?
The answer lies in getting both organized and comfortable. Even though searching for a better job is considered hard work in many regards, it doesn’t have to be something to dread. The truth is, in fact, that you can perform a thorough job search without even leaving the comfort of your favorite pajamas!
Whether you’re a morning person or more of a night owl, simply set aside several hours of your upcoming day off and work through a series of procedures to keep your portfolio current. You’ll want to find an area of your home where you will be productive and gather the necessary supplies to allow you to keep focused for several hours of concentrated work, such as a snack, something to drink, your computer charger, etc.
Once you have settled into a comfy and efficient atmosphere, you can work through the various tasks at hand. Each task should require approximately 30 minutes of your time.
